Gentlemen

Weather is again the topic of the week with those brave enough to venture out largely only getting a little soaking. A reduced number of players for each of the competitions but generally happy to be out of the house!

MEN’S Competition Tuesday March 18th

There were sixteen members participating who all managed to finish. The course is in great condition but was definitely the winner on the day. Only one member played to his handicap but slightly wetter golf was better than dry shopping. Stuart Burrell took the spoils with 36 points. Simon Fothergill finished second on 35 points beating Joachim Friedl on handicap.

Results

1 st – Stuart Burrell – 36 pts
2 nd – Simon Fothergill – 35 pts

MEN’S Pairs Scramble Thursday March 20th

I decided to make a small change to the Thursday competition and we played a Pairs Scramble. There were 22 members scheduled to play but yet again the forecast forced 8 to drop out. So seven pairs braved the elements and only had two interruptions for yet more rain. The team of Klas Brand and Tony Flanagan (injured golfer) managing a net 68 were the winners. They finished one shot ahead of David Steele and Nicky Gyoury with a net 69 and second on handicap.

Monthly Medal Sunday March 23rd sponsored by VINOMARKET

Many thanks as usual to Richard Bell-Young of Vinomarket for their continued sponsorship of the monthly medal. Just thirteen members managed to finish the day with scoring being very difficult. Well done to Jim Jenet with a net 75 and Frank Breuer finishing second with a 76. Third place went to Andy Macauley with a net 77. David Waite won a bottle of wine in the card draw.

Course Info

Repair work will continue on the course to return it to the condition before the rainy season set in! The greens and tees will be spiked and top-dressed weather permitting Tuesday/Wednesday.

ADMIN POINTS

Just a further reminder that if you play your golf outside of Spain you need to submit those scores to the RFEG via the Handicap & Competitions Committee in San Roque. Supplying this information is an important responsibility of the individual player under the Rules of Golf.
