Hola Gents,
Not many took part in Roll Ups played on the New Course recently and so were effectively social fourballs.
Happily, last weeks Roll Ups (non federated and played under Winter rules) were played on our course which has recovered well from having been tined and sanded when closed the week before. The results are:
TUESDAY
Winner. JOSE CARCELLER (38 points)
Second. BILL FLETCHER (35)
Third. ANDY STANFORD (35)
Fourth. JON HALE (35)
THURSDAY
Winner. SIMON SUTCLIFFE (43 points)
Second. PAUL WEIGALL (39)
Third. MARTIN SCHNEIDER
Fourth. JIM JENET (34)
NP. JIM JENET
2s. MATT CHARLESWORTH
Last Friday, we had the final 9 & Dine of the Summer. A very enjoyable evening was capped off in style by our President Stephen Dundas when we treated all present to a drink on the house.
The heavily backed favourites, Jon & Jules Hale with Andy Stanford and David Tyler were clear winners on 28.2 followed in second spot by the equally fancied Karina Becker, Harry Muller, Cornelia Bush & Josh Hunter (28.9). The dream team (on paper at least) of John & Encarni Hunter with Joachim & Svetlana Friedl came third (29.35) closely followed in fourth place by the ever “dangerous” team of Russ Williams, Renee Spencer, Fergus McGoig & Andy Rogers (29.5)
1st Amanda & Andy Stanford, Jules Hale/David Tyler
2nd Karina Becker/Cornelia Busch, Harry Müller/Josh Hunter
3rd Encarni & John Hunter, Svetlana & Joachim Friedl
4th Renee Spencer/Russ Williams, Andrew Rogers/Mccoig Fergus
On Sunday last, 72 players took part in a 2 ball scramble (the format was almost universally welcomed.) The irrepressible pairing of Phil & Debbie Fisher (62.7) won by more than 1 clear shot from Matt Charlesworth & Jon Hale (his name appears on the winners’ board a lot more frequently these days!) on 63.85… followed by Bill Fletcher and Fran Breuer (64,85) in 3rd position, Brian Samuels & Martin Schneider (65.3) came fourth with the ever consistent Mike Cowburn & Stuart Burrell (66.55) fifth. Well done to all.

Finally, we in the SRC were all shocked and saddened to learn of the sudden death of Ray Seamer who was a great character and friend to all. August has been a mensis horribilis for Helen to whom our deepest sympathies are extended.
RIP Ray.
All the best and keep it down the middle
