Dear Ladies,
Another busy week at the Club! In addition to our regular weekly roll-ups, we welcomed 6 ladies from La Hacienda for the return leg of our Interclub Match, held the annual Past Captains’ Day, and competed in the Monthly Medal, kindly sponsored by VinoMarket. 🏆🍷
The San Roque team showed great determination and team spirit to secure a home victory against La Hacienda, while our visitors thoroughly enjoyed the warm welcome, beautiful course conditions, and the wonderful hospitality that our club is renowned for.
Past Captains’ Day brought together 12 former Captains, who kindly invited Patrick and me to join them for their annual competition. It was a great day and enjoyed by everyone who took part.
🎂🎉🥂 As if that wasn’t enough for one week, we also celebrated a very special milestone for the lovely Cha as she reached her fabulous 50th birthday!
Following Thursday’s roll-up, Stephen surprised Cha with a speech, and she was presented with a beautiful bouquet of flowers, together with a very generous gift certificate from the Members who had contributed to a special birthday collection for her.
Cha was treated to a lunch with her colleagues and friends, Carolina, Belen, and Marta. Adding to the fun, 4 of our Members, Nicky Triay, Jeremy Sibbons, David Tyler, and Kay Tyler, stepped into the roles of waiters for the afternoon! Dressed in aprons and uniforms, they looked after Cha’s table and helped with the bar and restaurant service, allowing her to relax and enjoy her special day. They did a fantastic job, bringing plenty of laughter and fun to everyone present. 👏😂
The celebrations concluded with the presentation of a birthday cake, and many of the ladies were lucky enough to enjoy a delicious slice while raising a toast to Cha.
Following the great success of last year’s Nine & Dine in aid of Centro Contigo, one of the Club’s chosen charities, I’m delighted to announce that this popular event returns on Friday 26th June!
A huge thank you goes to Cornelia Busch, who is once again generously sponsoring the event and subsidizing all of the costs, ensuring that as much money as possible can be raised for this very worthwhile cause.Thanks to Cornelia’s generosity, the full registration fee of €60 for Members and €110 for Guests will go directly to Centro Contigo. Cornelia has kindly donated 2 beautiful Steiff teddy bears which will be auctioned during the evening. These collectible bears are sure to attract plenty of interest and some friendly bidding wars! 😄 There will also be a charity tombola, with lots of fun prizes. As well as a putting tournament.
Cornelia has worked hard to organize this special fundraising event; it promises to be a fantastic evening 🥂⛳️😊

16 JUNE – LADIES TUESDAY COMPETITION
15 ladies played from the 56 tees in preparation for the Medal Competition on Saturday 20th. The ‘practice’ round produced some excellent scoring, with an impressive 11 ladies recording more than 30 points! 👏
Congratulations to Past Captain, Nicky Triay, who returned a great 38 points. It seems the old irons are still working their magic! ✨️ Welcome back to Judith Lamb, who also posted an impressive 38 points, narrowly missing out to Nicky on handicap. Taking 3rd place was Noelle Casey with an excellent 36 points.

18 JUNE – LADIES THURSDAY COMPETITION
17 ladies took to the fairways. Congratulations go to Maxi Glas, who stormed into 1st place with an outstanding 43 points! ⭐️ A welcome back to the winner’s enclosure for Jane Boland, who returned an excellent 39 points and celebrated her 1st birdie on the board! Well done also to Pat French, who scored a fantastic 39 points. Unfortunately, she was just edged out on handicap, but it was still a superb performance to be proud of. 🐦And what a day for birdies! A fantastic total of 6 birdies were recorded around the course. Brilliant golf all round.

15 JUNE – SAN ROQUE vs LA HACIENDA INTERCLUB
⛳️The same team of 6 determined ladies from San Roque gave a warm welcome to a team from La Hacienda Golf Club for our home match. The course looked absolutely stunning, and the conditions were perfect. However, on the back 9, we certainly had to battle against a very strong wind!
🏆 I am delighted to report that the San Roque team did themselves proud, securing a fantastic 6-3 home victory! 👏💪 Unfortunately, due to the result of the away match, we narrowly lost the overall fixture by just 2 points.
After the match, our Team Captain, Agi Savitz, organised a wonderful lunch on the terrace, which we all thoroughly enjoyed. As a very special surprise, Agi had also arranged a beautiful birthday cake for me, as I was celebrating my birthday that day. 🎂 It was such a thoughtful gesture and made the day even more memorable. Thank you, Agi! 💐
😊 The ladies from La Hacienda were extremely complimentary about their day at San Roque. They commented on how they loved playing our course, and how they were made to feel welcome the moment they arrived. They particularly enjoyed the little touches, such as the personalized welcome messages in the buggies and on the boards, which made the day feel extra special. They also spoke highly of the excellent lunch and the attentive service provided by our staff throughout the day. A big thank you to the entire San Roque team for helping to create such a warm and memorable experience for our visitors. 🌟

17 JUNE – THE PAST CAPTAINS DAY
On Wednesday 17th, 12 Past Captains gathered to take part in the annual Past Captains’ Day, a Mixed Individual Stableford competition. As a special gesture, the Past Captains kindly invited Patrick and me to join them for the day, which was both an honour and a pleasure.
The competition was organized by Debbie Richards, last year’s winning Past Captain, who ensured that everything ran smoothly. The day began with a breakfast at the club, where there was plenty of laughter and banter. The random draw added an extra element of fun.
🍽️ After the competition, we gathered together to enjoy a meal, with everyone choosing from the club’s menu. It was the perfect opportunity to relax and share stories before the prize presentation.
🏆 I am delighted to announce that Svetlana Friedl claimed 1st place with an impressive 38 points. A fantastic performance earned her the coveted Past Captains’ Day Trophy.
🥈 Linda Fletcher secured 2nd place with an excellent 37 points, while 🥉 Andy Stanford finished in 3rd place with a very respectable 36 points.
👏 Congratulations to all the prize winners and to everyone who took part in what was a great day of golf.
🏆 Svetlana was presented with the trophy and now has the honour of organising next year’s Past Captains’ Day..
20 JUNE – MONTHLY MEDAL SPONSORED BY VINOMARKET
17 ladies teed off on Saturday morning for the Monthly Medal, kindly sponsored by VinoMarket, with the first group heading out at 8:30am.
The ladies were treated to perfect golfing conditions with blue skies and not a breath of wind. It was the ideal day for scoring, and the ladies certainly took advantage of it!
Huge congratulations to Noelle Casey, who continues her winning streak with a fantastic gross score of 73 (+1). In 2nd place was Tammy Breuer, who returned a superb 74 (+2), while Svetlana Friedl claimed 3rd place with an excellent 75 (+3).
👏 Congratulations to all 3 ladies on some outstanding scoring. It was wonderful to see competitive golf and some great performances throughout the field.
A big thank you to VinoMarket for their generous sponsorship and to all 17 ladies who took part and made it another enjoyable day for the Ladies Section.
