Hi my lovelies,
I am back home in Spain now after a wonderful time in Exeter, UK. It was great seeing my family, but lovely to be back and on the course again. They are visiting in September so no more planned trips to UK for me, however I have a very poorly sister-in-law who is now in a hospice, so may need to go back for sad reasons.
Any way enough of me, what have the lovely ladies been up to in my absence! Last Tuesday, 10 ladies battled with the old course with one star in particular.
1st – Svetlana Friedl – 41 points with 3 birdies
2nd – Nicky Triay – 35 points
3rd – Diane Harmer – 34 points with 2 birdies
On Thursday it was the mixed Competition and our Diane was the only lady in the top 10!
Well played!
1st – Sandy Casofsky – 38 pts
2nd – Radik Yamilov – 38 pts
3rd –Diane Harmer – 38 pts
I arrived back late on Thursday to an empty Malaga airport, having been warned of long queues at passport control – sigh of relief as I had to be at La Hacienda, Alcaidesa just after 9 am, for the return of our interclub. 6 of us played on the Heathland, which was in relatively good condition; with greens that were faster than ours, which isn’t difficult at present as we are still recovering with sanding etc. We were not to be beaten though with a 6-3 win away, giving us an end result of 14-4.
We all played well and thank you to my playing partner, Liz Desmond, as we played so well together. We have great comradery with the Alcaidesa ladies and enjoyed their hospitality.
On Sunday, we played the June ranking, sponsored by Abbeygate, with 15 ladies present. There was a lovely breeze which kept the 30+ degrees to a very nice temperature. I was on good form after my rest and have had yet another handicap cut. Ksenia is our lady of the month with her handicap dropping considerably as well. An EAGLE on hole 3 secured her win.
1st – Ksenia Yamilov – 40 points
2nd – Linda Fletcher – 39 points
3rd – Liz Desmond – 38 points
4th – Andrea Myers – 38 points
Nicky Triay & Liz Griffiths both had birdies on the first !
We do hope that Amanda is on the mend, having had her stitches out; although I am led to believe
from Andy that he has left her flasks of coffee around the house as she can’t carry a cup and use
the crutches! I am sure Andy is making a great nurse and we all hope that Amanda will be able to
join us all soon – maybe not in her lovely heels though!
This coming Thursday 29th we have another top tracer event on the driving range. It was such a fun evening last time, so highly recommend participation if you are around.
It is my Captains day this coming Friday, which I am really looking forward to. It is not too late to book a flight ladies! Registration is from 8.30 with coffee and croissant in the bar area. The first tee time will be 9.30 AM. And of course, the men’s day is on Saturday with our dinner on Saturday evening, cocktails from 6.45 on the terrace. We do hope you enjoy our weekend.
On Wednesday July 5th we have 7 of us competing in the David Steele marathon, playing with Noemi Jimenez, a local European tour pro. We also need volunteers for the day to drive us and to help marshal, rake bunkers etc, so please contact myself if you can help.
I am also helping to sell raffle tickets for the draw on the 8th. I accept Revolut if you are not here, 10 euro for 5 tickets and I will put your names on the tickets. There are lots of prizes up for grabs!
We are all very proud of the Gibraltar special golf team.
A gold and a silver medal – fantastic!
Remember your sun cream and wear a hat!
Bye for now Linda x
