Hello my friends,
An early newsletter this week as we leave for my tour tomorrow and I know, as much as I love you all, I will not feel like writing this tomorrow evening! I am all packed and hopefully I will not forget
anything!
Great news this week, little Harry Richards made an appearance; so huge congratulations to Debbie & Hugh for becoming first time grandparents. I am so pleased for you both and thank you Debbie for kindly treating us on Thursday to a glass of bubbles to wet his head.
Glad to say it is so much cooler this week and therefore the aircon is no longer required.
On Tuesday, 14 ladies played on our lovely course, Which, although still a little sandy in places, is
absolutely in superb condition.
1st – Ksenia Yamilova – 38 points lowering her handicap now to 20.2!
2nd – Sharon Andersson – 38 points
3rd – Helen Seamer – 33 points – birdie on hole 12
Anne Middlehurst also had a birdie on hole 12.
It is lovely to see the new arrivals seeking the autumn sunshine. I was going to say,
escaping the rain in their home countries but there is currently a heat wave in Europe! The
children have obviously gone back to school.
13 ladies gathered on Thursday, and there was a bevy of birdies! I have now run out of my little
chicks so I am now using those left by Irene until I source some new ones.
1st – Anne Middlehurst – 35 points – birdies on 12& 14
2nd – Andrea Tucker – 34 points – birdie on 12
3rd – Roberta Jons – 33 points
Svetlana had a birdie on hole 7 and also had the first one on hole 18! Liz Desmond also had a
birdie on hole 7.
On Friday, we hosted La Canada in an inter-club.
From all accounts, everyone enjoyed the day, the food and the comradeship between the two clubs.
They are always a tough team to beat but with Nicky’s capable leadership, we managed a 10- 2
win, so just need 3 points on the return to win overall. We have a mixed inter club with them next month which again will be a tough nut to crack! WE CAN DO IT!!
On Saturday, 10 teams of 2 played a greensomes competition, as a prelude to the Solheim cup which start in just 10 days time at Finca Cortesin. We were all dressed in blue & white, with some matching pairs and very keen groupings.
1st – Svetlana Friedl & Agi Savitz – 39 points
2nd – Liz Desmond & Heidi Kuhnert – losing on handicap also with 39 points
3rd – Sarah Cronin & Debbie Fisher – 38 points
4th – Judith Lamb & Malene Bjorlow – 37 points
Nearest the pin on hole 16 was Debbie Richards.
Thank you to Fatima & PING for the Solheim themed prizes – it was a great morning and I loved us all sitting around on the settees afterwards.
Well that’s it for now – I am leaving the Tuesday & Thursday competitions in the very capable hands of Agi & Tracey – Have a great week, I know I will!
