This week started with all calm from the weather gods, although sadly it did not last. Freak cyclones on Wednesday and Thursday brought more rain and flooding to Malaga and weather alerts everywhere. The weathermen and the government are now ultra cautious, understandably following Valencia. We managed golf on Tuesday, but it was a complete washout on Thursday. Fortunately, we missed most of the storms at The San Roque Club.
On Thursday, instead of a coffee morning, I thought it would be fun to play bridge in the Eddie Polland Room. We had two tables. It went well but I’m not sure if I am the best teacher !!! We will try again in the New Year, if the demand is there and I haven’t scared everyone off. Noelle – thanks for your help.
Thank you to Andrea Myers for treating us to a glass of cava to celebrate her birthday, ANDREA after the competition on Tuesday.

Very good scoring on Tuesday. I had a lovely round with the birthday girl who obviously inspired my golf!! Denise was unlucky coming in 4th being beaten on handicap.
Thursday – no golf in Spain but surprise surprise sun in England. Tracey playing golf at Goodwood. Hopefully, everyone has managed to send their World Series scores in electing another day.
WEEKEND COMPETITIONS
Saturday 16th November 2024 Ladies vs Men
I have been getting very excited about this match as the men have beaten us the past couple of years. On paper, the ladies were a strong team and on the day it proved so. All the matches were played in a friendly but competitive spirit. Seeing the men’s tees so far back did make me laugh. Promise I had no idea.
The LADIES were victorious with a win of 18.5 to 14.5
WINNING TEAM
Liz D & Joanna, Tammy & Linda, Svetlana & Yolanda, Debbie & Mandy H, Nicky & Amanda S, Helen S & Maxi, Malene & Yvonne, Janine & Tina, Tanya & Ksenia, Noelle & Judith, Agi & Pascale.
MIXED INTERCLUB vs LA CAÑADA Sunday 17th November
Away Match
This interclub is never easy and yet again La Cañada brought in a strong team. The away result stands at 17.5 to 6.5 to La Cañada. We have our home match on Friday 29th November. Let’s hope with the advantage of home we can win back some points and change the score sheet.
8 Pairs
Everyone enjoyed a lovely lunch, the the portions are always plentiful at La Cañada.
COURSE MAINTENANCE
Works on mulch after the recent rains.
Treat all the Bermuda grass for poa as well as applying a foliar fertilizer.
Poa treatment will also be applied on greens, as well as a fungicide.
Mastic trees will be planted around the Clubhouse gardens.
Rough will also be mowed this week
