Hello ladies,
By the time you read this newsletter it will already be September 1st and the meteorological summer (June 1st – August 31st) is over. However, we still have the astronomical summer (from June 21st until the autumn equinox, usually around September 22nd/23rd).
Here in the south of Spain, the temperatures remain very high despite the end of summer and most of us love it, otherwise we wouldn’t be here.
Time flies by like a dream, and soon we will be welcoming the beautiful autumn days on the course. I look forward to seeing many of you out there, enjoying your golf and sharing more wonderful moments together.😊 🌸
We are back on the Old Course and very happy about it. It’s so lovely to be back. We’ve played our two roll-ups, the last Nine & Dine of the season, and a members’ competition.
MIDWEEK COMPETITION
26th AUGUST LADIES TUESDAY COMPETITION PLAYED OF 49
On Tuesday, 8 ladies took part. We played non-federated and under winter rules.
The course was in fairly good condition considering the recent maintenance, but not quite ready yet for serious play 😉 A few fairways still had some sandy patches, and the greens were a little uneven and carried some sand, but overall it played better than expected.

28th AUGUST LADIES THURSDAY COMPETITION PLAYED OF 49
Seven ladies enjoyed the tournament in beautiful weather (non-federated). I didn’t play this time as I had a visit from my lovely daughter and wanted to spend some extra time with her. Many thanks to Jules, who kindly stepped in for me on the day.
Well done to the winners! Liz played another fantastic round. It was also Ginette’s last round before heading home, she played very well.

WEEKEND COMPETITION
29TH AUGUST NINE & DINE
On Friday, we celebrated our final Nine & Dine of the season with 43 enthusiastic players. Despite a cool breeze and a touch of wind, the atmosphere was warm and lively, with music, laughter, and even some dancing. Four prizes were awarded on this special evening.
This season has been truly wonderful, with an impressive number of participants at each Nine & Dine sometimes as many as 60 players. We are deeply grateful to everyone who joined and supported these events, helping to make them such a highlight of our golfing calendar. Thanks to Fatima for taking such good care of the event and thanks to Stephen for the courtesy drink… really appreciated
We are looking forward to next season, and to sharing many more memorable evenings together.

31ST AUGUST 2-BALL TEXAS SCRAMBLE (MEMBERS)
On Sunday, we enjoyed another great tournament with 68 participants. For this event, we introduced a new format – the 2-ball Texas Scramble – which added plenty of excitement and a fresh challenge. The handicap adjustment (35% from the lower handicap and 15% from the higher one) kept things competitive and tested everyone’s teamwork.
After the round, it became clear that this format works especially well when played as mixed pairs, making the game even more fun and balanced.
