What a week we have had in Spain, with devasting amounts of rain falling, particularly in Valencia – One year’s rain in one day!! Sadly, there were mainly casualties, the precise numbers are still not known.
After discussions with Stephen and Alicia we all decided to go ahead with our annual Halloween Texas Scramble. The idea was that the members would donate their prize money for the day and the club would match what was raised. On the day we raised in the region of 2,300 euros and growing thanks to the individual generosity of members. Once Alicia has a total amount, I will let you know where the aid has been sent too.
The Tuesday and Thursday competitions were a wash out, although the die-hard ladies section turned up in the hope of a break in the weather. It was not to be, so we had a coffee morning instead. Four of us did venture out later Tuesday where miraculously the sun came out. Thursday in the rain, 9 of us started, with four fanatics doing nine holes.
COMPETITIONS OF THE WEEK – cancelled due to rain
The course has held up amazingly well – great drainage after the huge amounts of rain and still playable. The odd bit of lightening did stop play for a while but apart from that that the course remained open.
Winter rules apply and we are teeing off after the men in November.
WEEKEND COMPETITION HALLOWEEN TEXAS SCRAMBLE In aid of Valencia 2 nd November 2024 108 Players
The team at San Roque lead by Alicia were brilliant. From the Caddy Masters who decorated the course with creepy crawlies, giant spiders and snakes. The superbly efficient shop with the cards. Mirko and Louis and their teams who looked after us and served up a delicious meal – top class.
