Hola Gents,
More good news from the SRC in as much as the Chairman of the Handicap Committee, the tireless and hard working Joachim Friedl, achieved a notable landmark in his golfing career:- his first hole in one! This was as a consequence of nailing a 4 wood tee shot at the 16th into a fairly stiff breeze. Bien jugado Jo!!
Also, as you’ll see from the results below, Nigel Lilley, who won’t mind me saying that he’s not in the first flush of youth, won Thursday’s Roll Up with a brilliant score of 41 points. An equally excellent gross 70 that day wasn’t quite enough to win for David MacGregor!
In yesterday’s Monthly Medal, Frank Breuer made light of his exertions at the BBQ across the road the night before to narrowly pip Paul Ingebrigtsen while John Hunter made it on to the winner’s podium despite his artistic talents taking up more of his time/attention recently. John and Doreen Ingebrigtsen have jointly hosted a fascinating exhibition of their work in the clubhouse over the past while to much critical acclaim.
Results of the Roll Ups are:

Last Friday saw a very well supported Charity 9 & Dine generously sponsored by the wonderful Cornelia Busch. It really was a very happy and true San Roque Club event which everyone enjoyed greatly. As always, our thanks to Richard Bell Young for his continued and valued sponsorship of this event.

Tomorrow and Thursday will see our Roll Ups off the 63s in preparation for the Club Championships this weekend. Maintenance works planned for this week will be continuation of the groundwork’s to the right of the 12th green and to the left of the 13th fairway plus spraying and fertilising of the Bermuda grass.
NB. The Old course will be closed from 18–24 August for annual maintenance.
During this period, you’re welcome to play the New Course at no charge.
Please make your reservation through Alicia.
All the best and keep it down the middle.
M. KEANE
PS The answer to last week’s question is that because player B did not allow player A the 10 seconds that he was entitled to to see if his ball might have dropped into the hole, A is deemed to have holed his putt and therefore the hole is halved.
