Gentlemen
This will be my 49th newsletter of the year and my last. I hope that they have been useful and informative for those that are not here full-time and even for those that are. The Captain’s farewell was fun and there were a few sore heads the following morning. Now onto the last lot of results which also includes a long list of the Annual Competition winners
MEN’S Competition Tuesday April 8th
With Easter approaching there was a trickle of familiar faces returning to San Roque for the Drive-in. This Tuesday 26 members took to the ever-improving fairways now the sun is shining. With only two members playing better than their handicap success went to Andy Rogers beating Colin Meister, both with 38 points and lower handicap. Three players with 35 points filled the minor places, again decided on handicap, and these were Frank Breuer, Stuart Burrell and Paul Cambridge.

Paul actually finished 5 th on Tuesday, so both are in fine form. Captain’s Farewell Florida Texas Scramble Thursday April 17th
First of all, thank you for being there and participating in the event to mark the end of what has been an unforgettable year for me. Nicky and I tried to make this a fun tournament where the golf was not too serious but still had an element of competition. I should probably apologise to the incoming Captains for not telling them that we could not win – which we did!! However, we were extremely pleased that the results were very close so most groups were in with a chance. The first three teams were decided on handicap separated by only 0.08 shots.

And Finally…
One of the most meaningful parts of this role has been the opportunity to give back. I’m proud to say that, thanks to your generosity and support, we’ve raised a fantastic amount for our chosen charities this year, Cancer Research and Centro Contigo. We will be sending €2000 to Cancer Research and over €3000 to Centro Contigo.
Now, onto something that really touched me – the gifts you’ve given me. Honestly, I’m blown away. I half expected a novelty golf ball cleaner or a ‘How to Drive Straight’ book, but instead I received such wonderful and generous gifts. A very heartfelt thank you. I’m genuinely touched by your thoughtfulness
Thank you once again.
I now move on to that very exclusive club… the Past Captains. I’ve been told our main responsibilities include offering unsolicited advice, reminiscing about “how we did things in my year,” and occasionally turning up just for the wine. I think I’ll manage just fine.
