Men’s Competition Tuesday October 15th
This Tuesday proved to be a competitive event with some very good scoring at the top of the leaderboard. Normally a score of 42 points would see you into the winners enclosure. Sadly for Noel Smith there was one player who preformed better. Jon Barber with 44 points which earned him, apart from the winners prize, a cut of 2.2 taking him down to 14.9. Very well played Jon! Not so glad to receive the tissue again, Jeremy Sibbons’ form seems to have left him. I am certain it will return.

MEN’S Competition Thursday October 17th
With a field of 36 players only eight did not manage 30 points so competition was tough to avoid the tissue!! 36 points would only earn you 10th place on the leaderboard. The top five headed by Frank Breuer with 39 points were only separated by a single point meaning playing handicap decided all five places. The best gross score of the day was 74 by Josh Hunter.

Past Captains Invitational Day Sunday October 20th
Sunday was an extremely busy day with 114 golfers taking to the fairways of San Roque. The weather was absolutely perfect, a welcome change from the recent rain. The course itself was in great condition and the greens were running a little faster than usual. This was shown in the scores with 24 players scoring between 35 and 39 points. With only one score of 40 points, Stuart Burrell, went home, literally, with the Members Trophy. Paul Ingebrigtsen was 2 nd on 39 points followed by David Macgregor with 38 points. The Guests prize was won by Oskar Osala with 39 points beating Chris Hunter on handicap with the same score.
One very happy event, well at least for 113 of us, was the Hole in One on the 16th by Ben Helme. He started on the 14th and went No score, Par, Eagle, No score, No score.
After the lunch we did a Charity Auction with some great prizes to benefit the Captain’s Charities. We raised just over €2600 for Centro Contigo, a childrens charity in La Linea and Cancer Research. Special thanks must go to Jon Hale, our resident auctioneer, for a spectacular job squeezing that amount out of our Members and Guests. A special mention must also go to Ian Wright for the prize to play with him and three guests at Turnberry. He also threw out a challenge for another Green Fee if anybody beat him there.
