Hello Ladies,
What a busy and exciting week it has been! We had two interclub matches, our midweek competitions kept the momentum going, and to round it all off, Sunday brought something truly special – our very first Oktoberfest event, which was a wonderful success!
On Monday, the long-awaited Interclub match against Aloha (away) finally took place – the return leg! After four attempts to fix a date (thanks to the weather playing games with us), we finally made it.
And it was worth the wait – we had a beautiful day. The Aloha ladies were great company, the course played really well just a week after maintenance, and only the greens were a little on the slow side (which gave us all a handy excuse for those missed putts!).
All in all, it was a fantastic day of golf and friendship. A big thank you to Agi for all her hard work – we couldn’t have done it without you!
On Wednesday we played our away match against La Cañada in a wonderfully friendly spirit. A lovely example of sportsmanship was when one of our players realized she had left her putter behind — without hesitation, a La Cañada player went to her car, collected her spare putter, and kindly lent it to her. Moments like these highlight the warmth and care that make these matches so enjoyable.
Unfortunately we came up against a very strong team, so lost 4.5-7.5, but it’s only half time so let’s step up for our home match on Monday and turn this around.

Last Tuesday, eight ladies took part. The weather was fantastic, and the course was in perfect condition. The ladies played some great golf, with an outstanding score from Debbie Richards, who brought in 40 points. I hadn’t played with Tracey for a while, and her game has really improved. I’m so pleased for her she also played super round and came second! Congratulations Ladies!

Fourteen ladies had originally signed up, but in the end ten played, as a few had to withdraw for health reasons. After playing three days in a row, I decided to give myself a little break on Thursday. With Jules also away, Linda kindly stepped in to take care of the prize giving — a big thank you to her for doing so!
Caroline played a fantastic round and took the win – well done!

OKTOBERFEST
On Sunday, we celebrated our very first Oktoberfest.
A total of 72 players took part. Our Caddy Masters and the Ladies in the Pro Shop wore traditional Bavarian hats, setting the perfect atmosphere right from the start. The whole event had a wonderfully Bavarian flair.
We began the day with a traditional Bavarian breakfast of Weißwurst, Weißbier, and pretzels, followed by a Florida Scramble. Afterwards, the Oktoberfest festivities continued. Many of the ladies wore Dirndls, while some of the men showed up in Lederhosen – a fantastic sight! The tables were beautifully decorated in blue and white – many thanks to Cornelia for the lovely decorations.
Many thanks to Yvonne, who discovered Bavarian culture this week and even went shopping for original prizes from Bavaria. A big thank-you as well to our Pro Mark and his wife Sabine, who organized the Weißwurst and proper Bavarian beer – simply fantastic! Joachim provided the authentic Oktoberfest music, creating a lovely atmosphere. Our chef Mirko prepared Bavarian-style dishes, which received excellent feedback from everyone. Special thanks also to Alicia, Fatima and Oliver for their great support. It was a wonderful day full of fun and Bavarian spirit – an Oktoberfest we will remember for a long time! 🎉🍻

GOLF COURSE
Exciting news! The left side of the 12th green is finished and looks amazing – the new turf will help keep your shots on target!
Our greenskeepers are hard at work on the fairway at hole 13, doing an excellent job. The entire side is being covered with fresh turf, improving both the look and playability of the hole!
As I mentioned earlier, the course is in excellent condition, but like many clubs in our region, we face an ongoing challenge with wild boars. They wander freely onto the course and cause damage as they please. Most recently, they dug up the bunker on the 13th green — luckily, it was only that one! From time to time, they also leave their mark along the edges of the fairways. La Cañada and other nearby clubs are experiencing the same problem, and it’s not just golf courses that are affected, but also many gardens in the area.
Despite this, the course team is doing a fantastic job keeping everything in great shape, so we can continue to enjoy our golf.
